WithYou in BCP hosted a celebration of courage, community, and remembrance this VE Day, with veterans coming together at Poole Park to mark 85 years since Dunkirk.
To show support for the armed forces community and to celebrate the role that Poole residents played in Dunkirk, the VE Day anniversary event took place at Poole Park on Thursday 8th May.
The event included a ‘bring and share lunch’ with veterans from the Poole Dolphin Centre group. A wreath was laid on behalf of the veterans group and attendees then enjoyed afternoon tea, sharing VE Day experiences.
WithYou for the Armed Forces Community provides a unique service for community members dealing with challenges with drug or alcohol use and mental health. The service is led by a dedicated programme lead, with armed forces leads embedded in services, many with a military background.

“This was a really enjoyable event, and very moving at times.”
An Armed Forces Veteran said:
“I’m so pleased that so many young people were at the event, and they came to ask us what it was like.”
