Connor doesn’t just work in community engagement - he lives it. As a Community Engagement Coordinator at WithYou in Cornwall, his passion for supporting others shines through in everything he does.
“What I love most about my job is getting to be part of people’s stories and journeys,” says Connor.
”It’s a real privilege to be invited into someone’s life at such a significant moment. Showing up for people is incredibly powerful, and it’s not a responsibility I take lightly. Being able to witness people rebuild, grow, and turn their lives around is genuinely amazing and something I never take for granted.”
Connor’s own experiences inspired him to join WithYou. “I wanted to learn, to listen, and to help in a way that has a lasting impact,” explains Connor. “I also knew the role would challenge me, personally and professionally, and that felt important.”
Driven by compassion and a belief in walking alongside others in recovery, he helps build communities where trust and personal growth thrive. He’s especially proud of the groups and programmes he runs, watching people go from uncertain beginnings to volunteering and supporting others themselves.
“Taking a room full of strangers and seeing them gradually build trust and connection is incredibly special,” says Connor.
“A real highlight has been seeing a couple of people who consistently attend meetings now step forward to volunteer with the team. Some of them wouldn’t even attend an appointment at the start of their treatment. To see that level of confidence and growth is such a powerful reminder of what’s possible.”
