Rebuilding your trust

Supporting our women veterans

We know it’s not always easy to ask for help and that women and veterans can experience additional barriers to support.

WithYou’s Rebuild Project offers women veterans with substance misuse challenges, specialist trauma focused psychological therapy related to trauma they may have experienced from their time serving in our armed forces.

We want to empower you to make your own treatment and recovery choices; everyone’s story is different, but everyone deserves a chance to be healthy and well.

We are WithYou.

Shaping support around you

Our support is tailored to the unique needs of women veterans, recognising the intersections of military culture, gender-based experiences, and the stigma that surrounds both trauma and substance use within veteran communities. Rebuild is part of our dedicated Armed Forces Community Programme.

About the service

Rebuild is free and available to existing WithYou clients who are women veterans and engaged in services. The psychotherapy treatment:

  • Is available to WithYou women veterans aged 18 years and over with substance misuse who are engaged with one of our services

  • Offers free, remote one-to-one therapy for one hour via an average of 12 sessions in total (dependent on need)

  • May use evidence based interventions including CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) for a trauma-focused approach

  • Delivered online or over the phone by WithYou’s specialist High Intensity CBT Therapist

Effective therapy requires regular attendance at weekly or fortnightly remote sessions.

To be referred please speak with a WithYou Recovery Worker or WithYou Armed Forces representative.

Is it right for me?

Rebuild treatment may help:

  • Challenge unhelpful thoughts and behaviour or safely process memories linked to trauma and substance misuse or struggles with mental health.

  • Understand how military experiences may have influenced coping mechanisms.

  • Build healthier responses to stress, emotional triggers, and relationships.

  • Address trauma related to combat exposure, sexual trauma, or service related incidents.

  • Reduce the emotional intensity of past experiences while preserving important personal meanings.

We’re here to listen and ready to help you work things out.
