Grangetown gets new drug and alcohol service as WithYou in Redcar and Cleveland expands

Withyou In Redcar And Cleveland Team (1)

A new centre supporting adults, young people and families struggling with drugs and alcohol has opened in Grangetown. WithYou in Redcar & Cleveland has expanded into the area from its current service on Redcar High Street, looking to meet more clients where they are and increase access to free, confidential, and non‑judgemental help across the area.

The building at Barbara Bowater House on Kingsley Road, Grangetown (TS6 7PW) is now fully open to clients, and those who previously attended Golden Boy Green will also now be welcomed at the new Grangetown site. A community launch event is planned for 21 May to celebrate.

The Grangetown premises has been developed as part of WithYou’s vision to create warm, welcoming environments where people feel safe, respected, and supported. The building hosts:

  • One‑to‑one support for adults and young people

  • Naloxone (a life-saving medication that reverses opioid overdoses)

  • Group sessions and workshops

  • Space for partners

  • Drop‑ins for anyone wanting advice or information

Stacey Skilton, head of service delivery at WithYou in Redcar & Cleveland, said:
“We’re excited to extend our support across the area - the additional centre in Grangetown will allow us to help more residents, at times and in places that suit them, and in a way that feels rooted in the community. By being visible in local areas, we’re making help support more approachable, and breaking down stigma. We want people to know that help is close by, free, and without judgement.”

WithYou is encouraging partners and community members to signpost anyone who may benefit from support. Whether they want advice, harm reduction information or support to reduce or stop use of alcohol and drugs. The new Grangetown site offers equipment and harm reduction services alongside therapeutic support, making it easier for people to access what they need.

WithYou is proud to work in partnership with THRIVE partners, Harbour and Intuitive Thinking Skills alongside Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council. THRIVE is England’s first Integrated Domestic Abuse and Substance Use partnership, bringing together three specialist charities to address complex, overlapping needs in Redcar & Cleveland.

Residents, partners, and local organisations are warmly invited to attend the free 21 May launch event to learn more about the service, meet the team and partners, and explore how the community can work together to support people in need. It’s free to attend and to help plan, please register your free place via Eventbrite.
