Coronavirus (COVID-19): a message to everyone we support.

Over 50s Alcohol Helpline

Our advisors are on hand to offer free, confidential advice about alcohol and ageing.

As we get older, alcohol has more of an impact on our health and wellbeing.

Changes in our lives and routines can lead us to drink more than we used to - and the health effects of alcohol can build up over the long term.

If you’re over 50 and have concerns about your drinking, or you’re worried about someone else, our helpline is for you.

Speak to someone

Call the over 50s helpline on 0808 801 0750

Our expert advisors are all trained, experienced alcohol workers. They can offer:

  • advice about alcohol’s impact on your health as you get older
  • tips for cutting down
  • help finding other support

The helpline is open:

  • Monday to Friday, midday to 8pm
  • Saturday and Sunday, 10am to 4pm

If you’re not ready to speak to an advisor

You can take our over 50s alcohol health check to find out how alcohol could be affecting your health.

Chat to us online

If you’d rather not talk on the phone, we also have a webchat service offering instant text-based help.

We’re online:

  • Monday to Friday, 9am to 9pm
  • Saturday and Sunday, 10am to 4pm

You can still message us when we’re closed. We’ll get back to you as soon as we’re open again.

Chat to us online

Is it confidential?

Everything you tell our team is confidential. We won’t share it with anyone else.

The only time this might change is if we have serious concerns about your own or someone else’s safety.

See more about how we protect your privacy.

How do I make sure my online chat is private?

To make sure your chat stays private, it’s best to use your own phone or computer rather than a shared one. If you don’t have your own phone or computer, you can use private browsing.
