Good health is going places...

We know that every neighbourhood across Wigan and Leigh has its own strengths, priorities and needs.

We’ve listened to local people and are working with partners to bring more support closer to home, building on the services and connections already in place.

Our Wellbeing Vehicle offers free, friendly and confidential drug and alcohol support out in the community for adults and young people across Wigan and Leigh.

Whoever you are and wherever you live, we’re here to help you look after your health, stay safer and get the support that’s right for you.

Our services

We believe everyone should have the information, tools and support to make choices that are right for them. You can visit the vehicle for:

Our team can offer practical advice to help you stay safer if you choose to use drugs or alcohol. This includes information about reducing risks, recognising an overdose and what to do in an emergency.

You can ask questions, talk through any concerns and get advice without judgement or pressure to stop.

Naloxone reverses the effects of opioid drugs like heroin, morphine and fentanyl. It is available in injection (Prenoxad) and nasal spray form.

We can give you a free naloxone kit and training on how to use it. The training is quick and easy, and you don't need any medical experience.

If you inject any substance, we want to support you to stay as safe as possible.

Alongside providing you with new equipment, our staff can talk you through the different equipment options available to you and give you a demonstration of safer injecting techniques. They're also happy to answer any questions you may have and discuss ways to help you stay safe.

We can provide you with special drug self-test kits that you can use to see if drugs have been contaminated with substances such as nitazenes, fentanyl, metomidine and xylazine.

You can also pick up a free pack to send a small sample of a drug for testing to WEDINOS. Our team can explain how to send your sample and check your results.

Blood-borne viruses (BBVs) are viruses that spread through blood and, in some cases, bodily fluids.

BBVs don’t always have obvious symptoms. There’s no way of knowing whether you have a BBV unless you get tested - even if you don’t think you’ve been at risk lately.

We offer free dried blood spot tests for hepatitis C, hepatitis B and HIV. This is a really simple process that doesn't involve drawing a syringe of blood or any other kind of medical procedure.

We can refer you to the local hepatology team for a liver health check, which may include a FibroScan to assess for any liver damage.

Our team can help you find other local services if you need them. This could include help with housing, money, mental health or other concerns. We'll listen to what matters to you and help you find the right support, without judgement or pressure.

If you're thinking about making changes to your drug or alcohol use, our team can talk you through the support available. We can explain what treatment and recovery services offer, answer your questions and help you take the next step if you choose.

What to expect

You don't need an appointment to visit the Wellbeing Vehicle. Just check the timetable and come along. We will listen, answer your questions and help you get what you need. You can use any of our services without signing up for drug or alcohol treatment. There's no pressure or judgement.

Working with our neighbourhoods

Our ambition is to complement the services, relationships and resources already established within local neighbourhoods.

We’d welcome opportunities to work alongside local organisations, neighbourhood teams and community groups to identify where the vehicle could add value and reach people who may benefit.

If you know a local group or community that could benefit from a visit, please get in touch.
